Winter sunshine

Brrrrrrrr a good frost this morning augured well for a sunny day. The temperature outside was only one degree when I got up.
It was a bright autumn morning and the sun, weak though it is at this time of the year, burnished the fallen leaves on the back lawn.

After a leisurely breakfast our plan was to go to Clapham Junction to visit a shop we had been to last year that had some interesting Christmas dekkies. I say was, because just after we got on the train at Crystal Palace  The Man remembered that he wanted to do a trial run to Lewisham. That’s where he will sit the Life in The UK test on Wednesday.
I’ve said before how easy it is to get about here in London and today we proved it again. So off the train we get at Balham and hop onto one bound for the City. Off at Bank and onto the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) bound for Lewisham. Forty five minutes later and we are standing outside the address where he will take the test. Easy peasy.
That sorted we go for a wander. Saturday sees a food market there and today it was clothing and household items, toys and other non-food stuff. Prices are pretty good, but you do have to be careful of the quality. I did buy myself a top there and we bought replacement pillows too, our current ones are being a bit of a pain in the neck.
Shopping done we stopped off at the golden arches for a quick smack before heading to the bus stop.
There we were on the 122 destined for Crystal Palace, happily peering over walls and into back yards when…hello the announcement system on the bus says. “The destination of this bus has changed, please wait for further announcements”
Hmmm. So we sit tight for few more stops until it is announced that we are terminating at Sydenham. OK. Now that we know where it will end, we keep a look out for oveground stations that we know and when Forrest Hill comes up we hop off and get the train back to Crystal Palace. Easy peasy.  I just had to take a picture. No one would believe it if you painted them this way

The clouds were in interesting patterns and
We were back in our warm little flat before sundown, and now the beef stew is bubbling on the stove top, filling the room with its yummy aroma.
Nomnomnom
Will you look at that, there I go writing about food, AGAIN.
