Music and fish...

My trip home on the train doesn’t usually come with entertainment Tonight’s did though. A cutesy little entertainer who had the whole carriage smiling. Her spontaneous rendition of happy birthday followed by twinkle twinkle little star and then itsy bitsy spider, all sung in a very lusty but lispy voice, was priceless.

Now this falls into the ‘I didn’t know that’ category.
If you’ve ever seen a fish knife and fork, you might have wondered (like I had) why there should be very specific pieces of cutlery to just eat fish. OK there are steak knives, but not, lamb or pork cutlery.

So what was the point of this specific cutlery? The reason, I heard today, was because when our ancestors were served fish, accompanied by lemon of course. Now in the early days knives were made of iron and that would have reacted with the acid lemon juice giving the fish a funny taste and rusting the knife, hence the invention of silver plated cutlery for eating fish.

A couple of days ago we heard on the news about an Ozzie DJ who called the hospital where Kate was, pretending to be the queen. Surprisingly the call was put through to the ward where Kate was and a flustered nurse, thinking she was talking to HRH gave an update on her condition. A harmless prank you would think.

Silly nurse, I thought, you’ll get a smack over the hand for that one.

Now crucially there was no complaint laid against the hospital…

But read on

A nurse who took a prank call at the London hospital that was treating Prince William's pregnant wife Kate for morning sickness has been found dead, the hospital said.  The nurse was a 46-year-old mother of two. The death, which is being treated as a suspected suicide, comes days after the King Edward VII hospital apologised after falling for the call from an Australian radio station and relaying details about Kate's condition.
That really is very very sad.
